Mighty ocean liner
SS United states is wery special and unique ocean liner in the history. caused by her glory, power and modern character.
She is the fastest ocean liner built in 1952. Holding transatlantic cross record also today. No ships today who could peat her. Maximum speed is 38 knots. Is known that she did 43 knots at sea trial. Some fast catamarans do such speed but they can't go ower oceans. So United States is the fastest and the most powerful large ship ever built. Cruise ships of today have lots of fun features but ocean liners had high grade luxury. Any ships of today can't beat the old legend. SS United States is worth of new chance in world of today. If not as moving ship then as museum or something like this.
shortly about her history:
Mayden voyage took plake in 3. July 1952 and she peat Queen Mary who was the fastest before.
It was from New York to Uk and she did it in 3 days 10 hours and 40 minutes at average speed 35 knots. This speed record gave her transatlantic price the Blue Riband. The ship is holding it for forever because no others peat this record. Today no any reason greate more fast ships than United States is. Airplanes are more fast than ships can ever be and people use most of air transport instead sea transport.
SS United states is the last Americas flagship. Lots of people around of the world used the ship for going to europa or America. Her career last only 17 years and end in 1969. Now, the ship is waiting for destiny in Philadhelpia.
The ship specifications:
In 1978, the US Navy decided the ship was no longer relevant to their needs, and the ship was listed for sale. She then passed from owner to owner, each with big plans for her future:
Sights in the future:
She will go in New York where is her homeport stationary because she will newer sail again. Too expenssive is put her in service because fuel cost a lot and not easy build her for meet new fuel regulations. She will be refitted and in hotel and museum service.
Red Hook plan house the ship as floating office and entertainment complex.
Why I want help save SS United States?
My ships interest have begin at being big fan of ocean liner RMS Titanic and I also were fan of Queen Mary 2 later. Estonia have non-connection with history of ocean ships and someone may think that why one estonian want help. Reason is personal because I love old fashioned ships because these are designed by heart what lots of ships from today aren't. For example Royal Caribbean greate lots of mega ships what are looking more like floating entertainment boxes. I don't hate them but not my favorites.
SS united States is unique ship and have big historic meaning. With being one of the most iconic and the greatest ships in maritime history. Destroying history is same as take piece off time. So the United States need to be saved. However how but I hope she will be saved. Now, at October 2015 the ship is in danger of going in Scrap. I am in far ower the ocean on side of Europa and I don't get to do a lot. What I can do is keep fingers crossed and hope the best. My heart and minds are for the ship oft. The blog post is for promotion the ocean liner in hope it manage in right hands. It means make people think about meaning of history and hope someone find inspiration for save SS United states.
Lots of airplanes connect far distanced lands today but its not same as crossing oceans on ships. The ships are slow and planes fast. So lots of folks prefer use faster transport. Ocean liners are forgotten but true enthusiast keep them alive. Ss United states and Queen Elizabeth 2 both are in danger. The first one maybe go in Scrapyard soon. We don't let it happen and we are doing all possible for save her. One of ships from past Queen Mary is a hotel ship in Florida. Why not use Ss United states in similar mode? Any reasons why do it are that the ship is the fastest ship ever built and the example of transatlantic history. She is modern and difference of any other ships in the world. She is worth of keeping and saving! Please help save american flagship.

- RICHARD HADLEY, of Seattle, planned to convert the vessel into seagoing time-share condominiums. After his financing collapsed, he had the ship’s interior fittings auctioned off in 1984.
- FRED MAYER, who bought the ship in 1992, sought to create a running mate for Cunard’s QE2. He had the ship towed to Turkey and then the Ukraine for hazardous material removal, and then towed back to Philadelphia in 1996, where she has remained since.
- EDWARD CANTOR bought the ship with dreams of returning it to seagoing service. The ship was put up for sale after his death in 2002.
- NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE purchased the vessel in 2003 and announced plans to rehabilitate the ship as part of its American-flagged cruise service. The global economic crisis caused these plans to founder, and the vessel was again listed for sale in 2009.
